Fascinating to watch. Amazing stage presence. I like the dance shout-outs to Michael Jackson, James Brown, Elvis Presley, etc. Not vocally stunning, but good.
I'm trying to decide between a macbook (pro would be great but fairly certain that falls outside my budget) and a laptop from the Dell XPS line. It's almost a coin-toss in my head, and my friends are insta-Apple promoters (with good reason, I suppose), but...I feel stubborn about following the crowd. Hmm.
I tried a random Italian beer from the supermarket called Peroni. I thought to myself "Hm, I've never had an Italian beer before. Worth a shot." It's light, fairly unremarkable, except for the rather dry, perhaps slightly hoppy finish. The description of it as "crisp" suits it. An okay summer beer. More flavor than Bud or somesuch, to be sure, but kind of kissing cousins otherwise.
Also picked up a Yellowtail reisling, which I'd never seen before, for my partner. She likes dessert wines (moscato, gewürztraminer, etc.). She thought it was a little too dry, which means that I thought it was pretty okay, for a sweet white. She remarked that it was about the same dryness as a Sutter Home chardonnay we'd had once. Hmm
Oh, we also had a goblet each of Framboise while in San Francisco a couple days ago, which I'd been meaning to try at some point. Didn't expect the raspberry flavor to be as strong as it was. Couldn't imagine drinking a full pint of it. It might be interesting with a little of Rogue Brewery's Chocolate Stout, though.
I also tried to hit the Anchor Steam Brewery for a tour while in SF. Turns out you have to book at least 4-6 weeks in advance. I called to see if there were any cancellations, but no dice. Another time.
I'm currently drinking a bottle of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. Alcohol content: 9%. Highest I've ever had as far as beer goes. Yes, I know it can get even higher, like barleywine. It's got a toasty wheat flavor, with caramel and chocolate undertones, but the hops make their own case and balance it well through the middle and end taste, I think. It's also a little smoky. Not like Sheaf's Stout, which tastes a bit like there's actual ash in it, heh.
Amy Winehouse and Mitzi from CAMP (Anna Kendrick). Think about Amy in the video for Rehab and Mitzi singing "Ladies Who Lunch" or whatever during that one scene when she poisoned the girl who originally had that role. Mitzi's like a mini-me.
Everybody: I'm hunkering down in anticipation of relentless googling and internet research into my life as related to the Equality Ride, so I'll be going friends only. That is all.
